Santiago, Chile - August 2023 -  the Curatorium of the Lo Cañas International Theologate met in Santiago, Chile on 25 August, an appointment aimed at getting to know the reality and evaluating the process of young people in formation. Fr Gabriel Romero, Councillor for the South Cone Region; Fr Hugo Orozco, Councillor for the Interamerica Region; and the Salesian Provincials, Fr Carlo Lira (Chile); Fr Líder Justiniano, (Bolivia); Fr Marcelo Farfán, (Ecuador); Fr Juan Pablo Alcas, (Peru) and Fr Nelson Moreno, recently appointed Provincial of Chile. The day began with a meeting between the Provincials, who then met with the Regional Councillors. Then some challenges and tasks were defined and the event continued with a meeting of the entire religious community of the Theologate, in which the Salesians in formation evaluated the experience in a moment of dialogue. This was followed by dialogue between the Provincials and their respective Salesians in formation, and then with the entire community. The day ended with the Eucharist. Fr Gabriel Romero emphasised that there is a good atmosphere of fraternity and study in the Salesian Theologate. "Listening to the young people in formation and their formators coming from various countries is very positive" Fr Romero said. "Always noticing the richness of interculturality... for them it is a beautiful experience of challenging, bringing and receiving good things." For his part, Fr Hugo Orozco said that the perceived environment is very good and healthy, and with regard to the international character of the Theologate he said, "We believe that one way of witnessing to God is to show that differences do not divide us and that differences find their common point in Don Bosco (...). We love young people in the style of Don Bosco, seeking to follow Christ, and this overcomes differences of culture, of nations, all the prejudices that exist today between countries."
