Nepal – Diplomas awarded to 140 students in the summer vocational training program at Don Bosco Thecho in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Nepal – June 2023 – 140 students from 14 districts of Nepal participated in a 50-day summer vocational training program at the Don Bosco Thecho centre. The programme started on 23 April and ended with the graduation ceremony at which the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Lalitpur presided. The students, who had just completed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), were very happy to have completed the course and receive their Certificate of Skill Training from the CDO. The Don Bosco Institute has conducted this summer vocational training program for the past seven years. The Director of the Institute, Fr Philip Xavier, organised the training program very efficiently, together with the two directors of the Kathmandu centres and other Salesian personnel from the centre. The vocational training program consisted of five training courses: basic computer science, graphics and media, electrician, tailoring and beautician. They also had guidance and advice in career choice and sessions on personality development. The overall program consisted of several extracurricular activities such as talent shows, sports and picnics. The CDO thanked the institute for rendering these services in his district from 2001 onwards, and advised students to use these market-oriented training courses with interest and to make good use of the skills acquired. He also met the guests, the Salesians and the staff of the institute.
