Democratic Republic of Congo - Marian Mission Day
Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo - May 2023 - On 28 May, the Senior Salesian Missionary Group (SSMG) organised a Marian Missionary Day entitled "Missionary Mariathon" (1st edition) at the Salesian community at Masina. This activity, organised for the benefit of missionaries, aims to help them rediscover, deepen and develop their Marian devotion, and in a special way their devotion to Mary Help of Christians as Don Bosco wanted. To start the day, all missionaries attended Sunday Mass at the Salesian Mary Help of Christians parish in Masina. The Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Jerry Matsoumbou, Delegate for Youth Ministry in Africa Congo (ACC), and Fr. Jacques Isha, leader of the SSMG group. After Mass, the missionaries experienced a rich moment of catechesis led by Fr. Grégoire Kifuayi, the parish priest, who spoke about "Mary Help of Christians, model of mission." They then prayed the Rosary, accompanied by some meditations on the mysteries and in the form of a procession which ended at the grotto of Mary Help of Christians. Fr. Matsoumbou finally concluded this moment of prayer with the Salesian goodnight.
