The image that accompanies the conference is a face of the moon, that of Gelsomina/Giulietta, the protagonist of the Oscar-winning film "La Strada" in 1957. A moon seems to peep out from behind the scenes, just to suggest how in Fellini, the Scene is the place where the magic of the encounter between Man and Mystery happens.
In this ritual and Sacred space, the theme of Faith appears, which takes the forms of Poetry and Myth, at times clownish and irreverent, but always alive like the awe of those who witness a marvelous spectacle. A hidden faith; yet, always present: the same one that the director suggests to Father Fantuzzi at the end of a long conversation, quoting Carl Gustav Jung: "Religious feeling tells us that the exit is upward."
The event, which will take place on May 5 at the Salesian Pontifical University and is supported by "Eagle Pictures," "Alonzo Committeri & Partners" and "Studio Spiniello," will include two moments: a seminar and a Gala evening.
To participate, it is necessary to register through a specific form.
The seminar, starting at 3:00 p.m. (UTC+2), takes place at the University's Paul VI Hall. It features talks by several speakers: Davide Bagnaresi (University of Bologna), Gianluca Arnone (Journalist and film critic and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Cinematografo"), Fr. Renato Butera, SDB, (Salesian Pontifical University), Guido Benzi (Salesian Pontifical University), Guido Bertagna (Theologian and art and film critic), Claudia Caneva (Salesian Pontifical University) and Cecilia Costa (University of Roma Tre).
The evening gala in honor of Fellini, beginning at 6 p.m., will be opened by greetings from the Rector Magnificus of UPS, Fr. Andrea Bozzolo, and will then feature the screening of the video: "Fellini and the Sacred," made by the Faculty of Social Communication Sciences (FSC) of UPS. This will be followed by a talk on the theme "Fellini between Heaven and Earth" between Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò, alumnus of the UPS FSC and former Prefect of the Holy See's Secretariat for Communication, with Gianfranco Angelucci, a film expert.
Then, the panel discussion moderated by journalist Fabio Falzone will take place with presentations by Mario Sesti (Film Critic and Journalist), Marco Leonetti (Director of the "Fellini Museum" in Rimini), Chiara Sbarigia (President of Cinecittà), Silvia Scola (Director), Andrea Monda (Journalist and Director of L'Osservatore Romano) and Antonio Monda (Writer and Film Expert) in connection from New York.
Finally, on video, there will also be a dialogue featuring renowned journalists Vincenzo Mollica, film expert, and Fabio Zavattaro, Vaticanist.
The evening will be enlivened by some musical moments from Fellini's films, performed by the "Sebes Trio."
Until May 25, UPS is also hosting two exhibitions, "Fellini and the Sacred" and "Fellini's Divine Love."
