Ecuador - Communication animation meeting for youth of works of Quito-La Kenney, Riobamba, Cayambe, Ibarra
Quito, Ecuador - March 2023 - "Communicating with the heart" was the motto of the communication animation meeting held in the Salesian Provincial House of Ecuador (ECU). A total of 24 young people from the Quito-La Kennedy, Riobamba, Cayambe, and Ibarra works participated in the meeting to be motivated in their work as Salesian communicators and to share experiences with other young people who share the same vocation of conveying good news. The activities began with a greeting from Fr. Marcelo Farfán, ECU Provincial. He reminded them of Don Bosco's great work in the field of communication and emphasized the value of their role in making known the good works being done in Salesian centers. Next, Tatiana Capelo, Delegate for Communication, led the moment of prayer around Pope Francis' invitation to communicate with the heart. The formative moment was led by Fr. Benito Delvecchio around the theme, "Good communicators in imitation of Jesus and Don Bosco." The need to use simple language to reach people, just as Don Bosco did with his writings, was explained to participants. "Communication is the ability to convey pleasant messages," Fr. Delvecchio pointed out. Next, Cristian Calderón and Marco Padilla, members of the Salesian Communication Office (OSC) team, shared their testimony of being Salesian communicators in the service of mission and the value of working with young people who want to evangelize other young people through the tools available today.
