Ghana - Skills Development Workshop for Economists and PDOs of Southern West Africa Province

Ashaiman, Ghana - March 2023 - The Salesian Province of Southern West Africa (AOS), in order to guarantee the capacity building of its members, especially economers, school directors, staff and collaborators, organized a meeting from March 6 to 13 in the Provincial House of Ashaiman entitled "Economers and PDOs. Capacity Building Workshop." Fr. Denis Soro, the AOS Provincial Superior, welcomed the 42 participants and emphasized the need for the consolidation of the Province's works. Furthermore, Fr. Soro highlighted the urgency of working in collaboration with lay people and partners for the good management of the economy of the houses, transparency and motivation of projects in the service of young people. With technical support from the Planning and Development Office (PDO) and the Provincial Council, participants benefited from in-person and video-conference training modules on various topics: the functioning of the PDO; the presentation, monitoring and justification of projects; recruitment of personnel in the works; the guidelines of the Provincial Communication Plan; the guidelines of the Delegate of Youth Ministry; and finally, an introduction to the new accounting software adopted by the AOS Province. Via various development partners "DON BOSCO MONDO," "VIS," "Missioni Don Bosco" of Turin, and "Don Bosco Tech Africa," project outlines and opportunities for collaboration to accompany and support the Salesian works of the AOS were given. While the Provincial Council and the various collaborators expressed their intention to consolidate this project, the 42 participants also benefited from the support of the General Council, through the words of encouragement of the General Economer, Br. Jean Paul Muller, SDB.
