Spain - Five Salesian Cooperators united by suffering to proclaim the Gospel
Cadiz, Spain - March 2023 - Five Salesian Cooperators, united by the same experience of being cancer survivors and united by a great desire to be grateful to God and to share what they have experienced, created a team to lead Spiritual Exercises among several offered by the SSCC Provincial Council for Lent. In the spirituality house at the Shrine of "Santa Maria de Regla" at the foot of Chipiona Beach (Cadiz), 31 Salesian Cooperators were accompanied by the five women, each of whom played the role in which she felt most comfortable. Eva and Maribel preached the meditations, Sonia was the coordinator, in charge of the reception and animator of the liturgy and Stations of the Cross, Rocío prepared the prayers, and Elena gave the impetus of presence through listening, silence and prayer. The spiritual exercises culminated with the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Juan Javier Bernal, SDB. "We feel we have taken a step forward in this synodal journey to which Pope Francis calls us: laywomen, Salesians, mothers of families, workers, sisters, friends... in fraternity. For us, it was an exercise in creative freedom, biblical formation, reflection and joyful weeping. We enjoyed thinking, praying and dreaming," said the Salesian Cooperators.
