Madagascar - Fr Alphonse Owoudou on extraordinary visit to Salesian Vice-Province of Madagascar and Mauritius
Ivato, Madagascar - March 2023 - On behalf of the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Fr. Alphonse Owoudou, Councilor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, made an extraordinary visit to the Salesian Vice-Province "Mary Immaculate" of Madagascar and Mauritius (MDG). Arriving at the MDG VP house in Ivato on Thursday afternoon, March 16, Father Owoudou, in his traditional Salesian "good night", highlighted the image, identity and role of the community director. He analyzed the words "provide" and "authority" and stressed that the community director is a sign of unity for the entire community; moreover, the director seeks to see the good in each brother and, in the perspective of loving one another every day, encourages his brothers to create a fraternal and meaningful atmosphere together. The Regional Councilor then presided at the morning Eucharist on Friday, March 17, in the chapel of the community of the MDG Vice-Province, in the presence of the community and the Christians who attend daily Mass. During the Eucharist, Fr. Owoudou emphasized that the essence of the whole Bible is love, which should animate the whole life of the baptized person. Fr. Owoudou then met with all the community leaders. On Saturday morning, March 18, the Regional Councilor arrived at the Salesian community of Betafo. The extraordinary visit of the MDG VP is scheduled until May 16, 2023.
