Montilla, Spain - 1899 - The image is an old black and white photograph from the documentary fund of the "Centro Histórico Salesiano de Carabanchel" that shows a historical overview of the Salesian school in Montilla, in the province of Córdoba. The photo was taken from the tower of the parish of Santiago de Montilla. The image shows the complex, which consists of several buildings: the academy, the boarding school and the church. The Salesian presence in Montilla dates back to 1899, when Count Francisco de Alvear y Gómez de la Cortina insisted on finding a way to educate the children of the working class. In April 1899, Frs. Michele Rua, Filippo Rinaldi, Ernesto Oberti and Pietro Ricaldone arrived in Montilla, and during this short visit the work of the school's foundation was completed.
