This trip will be a time of getting to know each other and strengthening Salesian spirituality. Then they will participate in World Youth Day, both in the Diocesan Days phase and in the central days of the event. Also highly anticipated is the meeting of the Salesian Youth Movement, which is for the whole Salesian Family a very important part of this gathering of young people from all over the world. Michał Cebulski, Salesian deacon, comments in this regard, "We can say that we have responded to the call of Pope Francis who, during World Youth Day in Krakow in 2016, invited us to get up off the couch and set out on the journey: 'Dear young people, we did not come to the world to 'vegetate,' to sit comfortably, aloof, to make life a couch that puts us to sleep; on the contrary, we came for something else, to leave an imprint.'"
Poland - Polish and Ukrainian youth prepare for WYD 2023 in Lisbon: it's a real adventure of a lifetime
Krakow, Poland - February 2023 - Through monthly meetings, about 350 Polish youth, together with a Ukrainian group, are preparing for World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon. To this end, a group of Salesians from the Salesian seminary community in Krakow has prepared the "Get Up!" program, through which young people have the opportunity to reflect together on issues of faith, meditate on God's Word, pray and build relationships. The first year of formation was designed for group leaders, who could then lead the meetings in the following two years. A summer spiritual retreat was also planned for participants each year. More than 20 groups, led by the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, will leave in five months for Lisbon, visiting places linked to the origins of the Salesian charism along the way.
