Colombia - Conclusion of 50th anniversary celebration of "Fundación Servicio Juvenil"
Bogotá, Colombia - October 2022 - On October 15, the activities related to the 50th anniversary of the "Fundación Servicio Juvenil" (Youth Service Foundation), a presence of the Salesian Province "San Pedro Claver" of Bogotá (COB), concluded. During the year of celebration, the Salesian work carried out, in coordination with the Salesian University Foundation on Popular Education, three panel discussions on: educating to serve and transform; the pedagogical experience of Fr. Javier De Nicoló; and the validity of Don Bosco's Preventive System. It also developed three artistic events that aimed to highlight the memory and legacy of its founder, Fr. Javier De Nicoló, SDB. Over the past 50 years, the Foundation has served thousands of children at risk or about to fall into a street situation throughout Colombia, offering them humanitarian assistance and comprehensive education so they can develop worthy, happy, and transformative life plans. During the closing act of its 50th anniversary, there was the presentation of recognition to benefactors, educators, and collaborators who have faithfully served the work "Fundación Servicio Juvenil," on behalf of all the people who have been part of its history. There was no shortage of artistic interventions, toasts, the presentation of the Statue in tribute to Javier De Nicoló and Dorita De Nicoló, lunch, and the customary oratorian celebration that closed in beauty a very meaningful day for this Salesian work that continues to work for the most vulnerable and least protected in the country.
