India - Holy Mass with Fr. Alfred Maravilla, Councilor for Missions

28 October 2022

Shillong, India – October 2022 - The early morning Mass of the Centenary Celebration started with a solemn morning prayer filled with hymns and praises and a reading from the Gospel of Saint John 15:16. The readings were taken from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians followed by the songs of Psalms and from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians. The Gospel reading was taken from the Gospel of Saint Luke which enlightened the faithful on the people chosen by Christ. In his Homily, Fr. Maravilla spoke about the two apostles Simon and Jude helping others in need of help. He acclaimed that apostles are the people chosen by Jesus Christ and were not special people, yet God called them and sent them for a mission. He urges young people to meet three challenges in their lives: to be a friend of Jesus, to find a friend, and to share Jesus. He concluded by saying if one can meet such challenges one can truly be a witness of Christ. Soon after, a felicitation program took place where a token of appreciation was presented by Fr. Anthony Kharkongor to Fr. Alfred Maravilla, Fr. Joseph Teron, Rev Fr. Robert Simon, and also the Trinity Voices Choir. The Holy Eucharistic celebration concluded joyfully with a photo session which reflected the day’s bright start.
