Medellin, Colombia - September 2022 - The 2nd Congress of Spirituality of the Salesian Family of Colombia was held from September 15 to 18. It was organized by the Joint Inter-Provincial Commission of Formation with the valuable support of the group of Provincial Superiors of the country’s Salesian Family. Attended by 180 members of the Salesian Family, the event’s central theme was "The Pedagogy of Accompaniment from the Benevolence of St. Francis de Sales," as part of commemorating the 400th anniversary of his death. Fr. Alejandro Rodríguez, SDB, Deputy Director of the Center for Salesian Studies in Berkeley (USA), elaborated on the theme. During the three days, participants reflected on the basis of Fr. Rodríguez’s lectures, with reports from group work and presentations. Each province drew its own conclusions and planned some concrete actions, to respond to the perceived challenges in light of the theme reflected upon, with a view to strengthening charismatic identity, to better fulfill the mission. During the opening of the congress, Senator Germán Blanco Álvarez, on behalf of the Congress of the Republic of Colombia, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of the FMA, presented an award to Sister Leslie Sándigo, FMA Councilor for the Salesian Family and Delegate of the Mother General to receive this honor. For her part, Sister Cecilia Camacho, Superior of the Province "Our Lady of the Snows," accepted, from the hands of Congressman Jorge Correa Betancur, an award given by the Departmental Assembly of Antioquia for 125 years of FMA presence in Colombia.
