Zambia – 22 new Salesians for ZMB and AFC Salesian presences
Kabwe, Zambia – August 2022 – On 6 August 2022, Feast of Transfiguration, in the ZMB Novitiate of Kabwe in Zambia, dedicated to Bl. A. Zatti, 22 young men (14 from ZMB and 8 from AFC) expressed their free will to be Salesians of Don Bosco, before the ZMB Provincial Superior Fr. Christopher Rychcik, who presided over the Mass, and Fr. Guillermo Basanes, AFC Provincial. For ZMB Vice-Province – composed of Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Namibia – which this year celebrates the 40th anniversary since the arrival of the first Salesian missionaries for “Project Africa”, it was a great sign of growth and Motherly protection of Mary Help of Christians, who also is the patroness of ZMB. The new Salesians came from: Zambia (7), Malawi (4), Zimbabwe (2), Namibia (1), Democratic Republic of Congo (8). Four of them decided to be Salesian Brothers (Coadjutors). During the celebrations, the preacher, Fr. Basañes, touched on the 3 birthdays on the Salesian tomb. First, the actual human birth of the confrere. The second birth, that of the first profession, is when one is born in the Congregation. And the last, when a confrere is finally born in the Kingdom of Heaven.
