Costa Rica - Salesian Youth Day: being witnesses of Jesus' resurrection in the world
Cartago, Costa Rica - April 2022 - On April 23, at the "St Domenico Savio" Center in Cartago, the Salesian Youth Day was held, organized by the Salesian Cooperators of Costa Rica together with the National Council of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM). The event brought together young people from the presences of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, to celebrate Easter and foster the spirit of family. It was the first edition of the Salesian Youth Day that brought together all the youth of the SYM of Costa Rica in the same event. The delegations, with a total of 238 young participants, were welcomed by the Salesian Cooperators and the organizing team in an atmosphere of Easter joy, with music, games, and masks. The opening Mass was presided by Fr Javier Rivas, SDB, Vicar of the Salesian Province of Central America (CAM), and concelebrated by Fr Jean Paul Bethancourt, SDB, SYM National Delegate. In his message, Fr Rivas encouraged young people to be witnesses in the world to the resurrection of Jesus. Afterward, soccer, basketball, and volleyball matches and a scavenger hunt were held. In the afternoon, a talent show took place with artistic performances inspired by the Rector Major's Strenna 2022, on the theme "Do all through love, nothing through constraint".
