Brazil - Four intense days of study, work, prayer and reflection
Campo Grande, Brazil - March 2022 - With the blessing of Mary Help of Christians offered by the Provincial Fr Ricardo Carlos, the Salesian chapter members of the "Sant'Afonso Maria de' Liguori" (BCG) province concluded the work of the XXVIII Provincial Chapter. Four intense days of study, work, prayer and reflection were spent at the "São Vicente" Institute in Campo Grande. The first day of the Chapter was dedicated to a moment of spirituality, led by Fr Nivaldo Pessinatti, who spoke in the morning on the identity of consecrated religious in Salesian pedagogy. In the afternoon, guidelines on the dynamics of the work were provided. The group studies and analyses began on Wednesday, March 23, with an analysis of the contributions of the Salesian communities to the text of the Provincial Organic Project (POI) previously updated by the pre-chapter team. Five lay people working in Salesian presences or members of the Salesian Family also participated in the group work. After a full day of study, the new text was unanimously approved by the Chapter Assembly. On the last day, the liturgical solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the Mass was presided over by the Bishop Emeritus of Campo Grande, Msgr. Vitório Pavanello, SDB, who, at the end of the celebration, also led the Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in spiritual communion with Pope Francis and the whole Church.
