India - "Bosco Institute of Research and Development for Youth" celebrates 25 years
Hyderabad, India - January 2022 - On January 15, the "Bosco Institute of Research and Development for Youth" (BIRDY) celebrated its first 25 years of accompanying the youth of the Hyderabad Province (INH). The work was launched in 1996, in the presence of the late Fr Thomas Panakezham, then Regional Councillor for Asia, and Fr Joe Arimpoor, founder-director of BIRDY. The Salesian work is aimed at young people, especially the marginalized and the poor, through various programs of animation. It has also reached out to young workers and educators, assisting them with training programs. The 25th-anniversary celebrations began with the Eucharist at the Don Bosco Shrine in the presence of various Salesians, sisters, youth, and benefactors. Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, INH Provincial, highlighted the purpose of BIRDY and the efforts for the integral development of youth, especially for the marginalized and disadvantaged in society. Fr Thathireddy, Fr Thomas Santiagu, INH appointed Provincial, various Salesians, and the current director of BIRDY, Fr Bokkala Rayappa, were thanked for their contribution to Youth Ministry.
