Sangradouro, Brazil - 8 October 2021 - The itinerant or Ambulant Missionary Assistance" (AMA) project of the Salesian Province of Brazil-Campo Grande (BGC) has begun drilling 9 artesian wells in the indigenous villages of Sangradouro and a well at the “São José” Indigenous State School. The forecast is that the wells will have to be between 40 and 60 meters deep, depending on the depth of the water table, and will serve about 60 people for each village. The AMA working group, led by Salesian Brother Alois Würstle, works with trucks equipped with drilling machines capable of digging earth and rocks. The Xavante villages in the region are generally built on the banks of small streams, but during periods of drought the water becomes very muddy and in some severe cases is completely lacking. Therefore, the work of the AMA project for these communities is essential.
