Natal, Brazil - September 2021 - On 20 September a special feast celebrated the commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the Salesian Institute "São José" in Natal. Collaborators, pupils, past pupils, former rectors and guests attended the event, which included: a eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Natal, Rt. Rev. Jaime Vieira Rocha, and was concelebrated by Salesian priests. This was followed by the unveiling of the statue of the institute’s patron saint St.Joseph, and the opening of a crèche. One of the special moments of the celebration was presentation of mementos to the past staff who contributed towards this historical the school. The Rector, Fr Ilmário De Souza, gave an overview of the Salesian work that had been carried out in the past eight decades, highlighting the educational, human, spiritual and intellectual formation to thousands of people of the Potiguares ethnic group. A photographic exhibition was set up in the school yard to retrace the history of the Salesian institute.
