The World Councilor of the Interamerica SSCC Region, Francisco Burciaga, said that "the Regional Formation Congress is part of a series of meetings that offer the opportunity to grow both personally and as a community, to offer a better service to the beneficiaries."
Antonio Boccia, World Coordinator of Salesian Cooperators, in the framework of the 145th anniversary of the foundation of the Association of Salesian Cooperators and in the journey of life of the association, invited us to be "a NEW SPRING", as protagonists, sowing hope among the young.
Raúl Fernández, responsible for formation at the world level, in describing the formative pillars (knowing, knowing how to do, knowing how to be and knowing how to live in community) and combining them with the human, Christian and Salesian dimensions, mentioned the importance of "promoting a coherent and responsible life, proposing credible models whose references are Jesus and Don Bosco, and accompanying the Salesian Cooperators in the maturation of their affective and emotional life." He also stressed how vital it is to respect the pace of personal growth and also to not leave anyone behind.
The event was also attended by Sr. Aracely Mayorga, FMA Regional Delegate of the Salesian Cooperators. In her speech, she emphasized that "we are called to have an evangelical vision of the future and to cultivate a spiritual life that allows us to discover light in the darkness, to trust that God is also present in the problems and uncertainties of our time, and to allow ourselves to be challenged by it." She also pointed out the importance of giving continuity and quality to the initiatives that are conducted in local centers, applying methodologies and technologies suitable for these new times.
Sister Mayorga then recalled that we are also called to share the formative spaces with all the groups of the Salesian Family in order to broaden our outlook and horizons. “The formative process,” she added, “is not just a moment or a parenthesis in associative life; it must be able to make us grow in our daily life, to give more aware and meaningful responses in apostolic life, and to enhance and care for the vocation to which we have been called in the Salesian Family.”
Karla Ramos, Provincial Coordinator of “CAMNorte”, was a guest of the Congress, together with Martín Calderón, Regional Formation Spokesperson. Both encouraged the participants to commit themselves to being “salt and light for young people”.
