Jerusalem, Israel - June 2021 - In the Salesian Monastery of Ratisbonne, on 12 June last, Bishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa ordained fourteen Salesian deacons. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr Ibrahim Shomali, Chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate, and by Fr Emanuele Vezzoli, SDB, Vicar of the Middle East Province (MOR). The relatives and friends of the new deacons, who were unable to attend due to the restrictions dictated by the pandemic, followed the celebration in live streaming, produced with the help of the community of "Canção Nova" in Jerusalem.
