The RSB is made up of the six Provinces of the Salesians of Don Bosco and the 4 Provinces of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians present in Brazil. Through this institutional structure, the two groups of the Salesian Family promote cooperation and the convergence of their educational, welfare and pastoral action throughout the South American country.
The decision to make resources for this emergency project available, a decision taken at the last general assembly of the RSB, is due to the perception of the unprecedented gravity of the moment of health and economic crisis. In particular, the economic difficulties of thousands of families and people who find themselves in conditions of social vulnerability due to unemployment and the absence of other job opportunities were considered, as well as the need for assistance from civil society which is necessary at this stage.
Salesian institutions must present projects, according to the RSB tender, for them to be analyzed, approved and conformed to the terms of the partnership and the transmission of resources. Considering the urgency of immediate assistance to people and families in social vulnerability with regard to the need for food, the projects that will be presented by the Salesian institutions must include the purchase of foodstuffs (basic food baskets) and/or distribution of food in other ways.
The implementation of the projects is scheduled from 21 May to 21 June this year.
“Salesian men and women and communities joining forces against hunger. Take part in this initiative”, is the appeal launched by the leaders of the RSB.
