Palabek, Uganda - February 2021 - Thanks to the help of the Salesian NGO "Don Bosco Jugendhilfe Weltweit" (Switzerland), warehouses called "Containers of Happiness" are being built in the refugee camp of Palabek, where refugees deposit their harvest, according to their availability. In fact, in the camp each family has a small plot of land measuring 30 by 30 meters, which alone can hardly satisfy all family needs. This is why it was decided to put all the crops together: in this way, an area can collect up to 6 tons of products, which are then sold directly on the market, without intermediaries; in the end, each refugee receives compensation based on his or her contribution. With this system, refugees can buy clothes, hygiene items, food, medicine and can even provide education for their children.
