In his introductory message at the Mass, Fr Joyce invited the Salesians and the aspirants to burn the candle of fidelity to God and Don Bosco and his charism despite the blowing wind. Further, he called on everyone to live the spirit of Valdocco.
During the felicitation programme, Fr John PK, Rector, welcomed the former Rectors, Administrators, Principals, Dean of Studies and all those who worked in the past fifty years at Don Bosco Bhavan. He remembered especially Late Br Peter Vithuvatical, the first Salesian at Don Bosco Bhavan; Fr Thomas Vailatt, the first Rector; and Late Fr Bout, the first Headmaster at the school, along with other Salesians who served the community in various capacities.
As a token of gratitude and appreciation for the service, the confreres were donned with shawls and mementoes presented. Fr Koyickal, in his benedictory address, recalled his formative days at Don Bosco Bhavan as an aspirant and thanked all his formators for what he is today. Fr Joseph KD, former Rector and presently the confessor, thanked the gathering, quoting Sirach 43: 27, “We could say much more and never finish, but it all means this: the Lord is everything.”
Laced with an angelic choir for the Holy Mass, the brass band and fusion dance for the felicitation programme, the community of Don Bosco Bhavan together with those who served the place yesteryear etched a golden mark on the annals of its history on January 30.
