He was joined in the celebration by the two priests-councillors of the "Sister Maria Romero" Historical-Theological Center: Fr Oscar Eduardo Brenes and Fr Cristian Alberto Bermúdez. Also present was Sr. Ena Veralís Bolaños, Provincial of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Central America.
Due to the pandemic, access was limited to just 50 people, including FMA religious from different communities in Costa Rica, benefactors and representatives of different groups and communities.
The restoration of the mausoleum was made possible by the great love and devotion to the Blessed still very much alive in the land where she lived and served. The Association of Friends of Sister Maria Romero (ASORMARI) has in fact matured the idea of a space, in an atmosphere of peace, which would favor prayer and encounter with the blessed more.
The renovated mausoleum sought the essentiality and austerity of the blessed. The Cross in the background, which extends to the ends of the wall, recalls the living Fountain from which all the graces and blessings emanate through the intercession of Blessed Maria Romero. Ten columns support the building and from there flows the water of the Virgin which finally reaches the pools of water that surround the mausoleum, so that the pilgrim can drink it and let Mary transform the water into the wine that sustains and makes happy through the healing.
Because of this event, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Mother General of the FMA, sent an emotional message: “I feel profoundly united with you in this very beautiful moment of the blessing of the mausoleum of Sr. Maria Romero. You have chosen a very significant day that reminds us of the sweet name of Mary. May she make your initiative fruitful with so much good and help you to choose and give the best of yourselves to the little ones, to the poor, to those in suffering, how this holy and great Daughter of Mary Help of Christians lived.”
