In the Salesian work of Manique, in a joint action, the "Fundação Salesianos", the Department of Education of the Municipality of Cascais, the companies "Altice Portugal", "Berner", "Orbcomm" and two education managers have made distance learning possible for all students by delivering computers and tablets.

At the beginning of the third school term, the weekly workload of each subject was adapted by seeking a balance between digital and physical work, the harmony of the synchronous (learn, interact, clarify doubts) and asynchronous learning phases (time for personal investigation, reflection, re-elaborating, creative phases) and also a healthy alternation between work, study and moments of rest.

The students of the Salesians of Manique had daily sessions in synchronous work, by recorded or videoconference broadcasts, to provide and elaborate didactic contents and for the interaction and clarification of students' doubts. The distance learning program also included work sessions led by teachers, favoring the use of the Moodle platform, an educational resource already familiar to students, and e-mail, as well as individual autonomous work sessions.

Several parents and those responsible for education sent messages of gratitude to the Salesians of Manique for their prompt and effective response in this situation.

“I want to thank you very much for your effort! It is incredible the work you have done on this side to make our children continue to learn ... All in such a short time ... well done! Your contingency plan was perfect. Thank you so much,” a pupil's mom testified.

“I want to leave my thanks to all the teaching staff who (tele) worked on the preparation of homework for the students. I felt, through my daughter, that the teachers were present whenever necessary, always trying not to stress the students," added another.

“Congratulations to the Salesian School of Manique. They have always been at the forefront in the care and attention of students, the school community and families,” concludes a third parent.

The Salesians of Manique also continued to accompany socially vulnerable families through "SolSal - Salesian Solidarity Service". During the months of March and April, baskets of food were delivered to 23 of the school's students' families.
