Angola - Salesians increase reception service for street children

03 April 2020

Luanda, Angola - April 2020 - The Salesians of the Vice Province of Angola (ANG), as well as the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), faced with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and at the request of the government of the city of Luanda, have strengthened the reception service for the children still living in the streets. For this reason, two other centers have been opened: the Salesians for boys and the FMA for girls. Immediately, the solidarity network was activated, in particular through "VUCAN", the Volunteer Service of the Catholic University of Angola, and a group of companies, partners from different pastoral backgrounds, to meet the children's material needs. The protection network for children and adolescents at risk, which also includes the Salesian NGO "VIS" (International Volunteer for Development), is offering accompanying activities for 500 children, adolescents and young people still in the streets.
