Guwahati, India - March 2020 - The Social Service sector of the "Don Bosco Society", of the Salesian Province of Guwahati (ING), called "Bosco Reach Out" based in Ulubari, Guwahati, provided food and relief supplies to 3,500 poor, daily workers and migrant families suffering from the government-led 21-day blockade following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Bosco Reach Out" is currently distributing kits of basic necessities, consisting of some basic foods, soap, hand disinfectant and a mask. They plan to reach 3,500 families in the states of Assam and Meghalaya. So far, 263 families of the slums of Boothnath and Manipuri Basti of Guwahati have been reached. The relief program was organized on March 31 with the collaboration of Assam police staff, and "Bosco Reach Out" provided families with an essential kit so they can sustain themselves for a period of 10 days.
