India – Bangalore Salesians against Covid-19
Bangalore, India - March 2020 - The Salesians in India are also alongside the population in the fight against Covid-19. Despite their limited means, they try to support the local population and to limit and contain the contagion in a context where access to healthcare is not guaranteed for everyone and where the people of rural areas still live in extreme poverty. In their mission, in the Indian state of Kerala, they have involved fishermen's wives in a health project whereby they have started sewing masks for the health workers of the "Holy Cross" hospital in Bangalore and for the railway staff. The Salesians provide them with fabric and material to be used for production and an economic contribution for the work the women do, after which they deal with distributing the masks for free.
