Fatumaca, Timor-Leste - December 2024 - On 7 December, after a year of formation in the Salesian novitiate in Fatumaca, 13 young people made their first religious profession as members of the Salesian Congregation. Twelve of these young people come from the Timor-Leste Vice-Province (TLS) and one from the Indonesia Vice-Province (INA). The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the TLS Superior, Fr Anacleto Guterres Pires, and concelebrated by dozens of Salesian priests, including Fr Lino Quintão Assis Belo, vice-Province of the INA Vice-Province. The ceremony was attended by the families of the newly professed, clerics and religious from different Congregations.
Xuan hiep - Vietnam - December 2024 - On the morning of 5 December, a Mass was held at the Philip Rinaldi Theological Community to celebrate the Community's Patron. During the Mass, Fr Barnabas Le An Phong, Superior of the Vietnamese Province (VIE) celebrated the conferral of the Ministries of Reader on six second-year Theology students and the Ministries of Acolyte on six third-year Theology students. The celebration gathered more than 400 participants, including Salesians, sisters, parents of Salesians in the community, guests and benefactors of the community.
Madrid, Spain - November 2024 - On 29 November, the headquarters Spain’s Saint James the Greater Province (SSM) was the scene of the graduation ceremony for the specialised courses in Educational Centre Management and Pastoral Coordination, organised by the Salesian Schools. The event, which was attended by prominent personalities from the Salesian educational and pastoral world, closes the 2023-2024 academic year and reaffirms the institution's commitment to the ongoing formation of educators. Over the past year, teachers have acquired fundamental tools to conduct educational and pastoral projects that respond to the current challenges of society. This approach not only guarantees educational quality, but also strengthens the Salesian identity in Salesian schools. During the day, not only the academic commitment of the graduates was appreciated, but also their dedication to the Salesian mission through the preventive system: to form people committed to building a more just and supportive society, where well-being and pleasant social coexistence are at the centre.
Anisakan Myanmar - December 2024 - On 8 December, in the Marian Shrine in Nazareth, Anisakan, Salesian Cardinal Charles Bo, Archbishop of Yangon/Rangoon, ordained two Salesian deacons, Francis Zau Din and Justine Aung Htet Zaw, and an OFM, Charles Hawng Khawng, as priests. The ceremony was concelebrated by Archbishop Marco Tin Win, Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Mandalay, Bishop Saw Noel, Auxiliary Bishop of Yangon, and Bishop Philip Zau Hawng, Bishop Emeritus of Lashio. There were 56 priests from various congregations and over 1,200 participants.
