(ANS - Asunción) - According to research "Latin America and the Caribbean are facing a slowdown in economic growth that could scupper all the progress made over the past decade, such as the reduction of the poverty rate, progress on equality or, a key issue, the adoption of a quality education system." It is certain that the educational reality in Latin America has not changed much in recent years. The governments have not invested in education and this is why there is a malaise in educational policies and government budgets in the field. Paraguay is no exception. In recent weeks its educational situation has been around the world. The Minister of Education, Enrique Riera, has declared an educational emergency.

L'Aquila, Italy - May 2016 - In recent days 11 young immigrant asylum seekers began an afternoon course of 200 hours in the repair of motor vehicles. The course is taking place at the Salesian Vocational Training Centre of L'Aquila and is run in collaboration with the ARCI of L'Aquila and Caritas Avezzano. It will allow these young people between the ages of 18 and 32 to learn the Italian language and will give them a technical-professional basis for a future job.
Santa Fe, Argentina - May 2016 - Gustavo Rossi (second from right), Salesian past pupil of Santa Fe (Argentina), will be one of the referees designated for the America Soccer Cup. Mr Rossi has already refereed matches of Copa Sudamericana, Copa Libertadores and "the classic" Boca - River. During an interview he said that Don Bosco was everything in his life and thanked all the Salesians who helped to form him as a citizen and as a Christian.
