NEWS
(ANS – Rome) – Dear Salesian Cooperators, today our hearts are in pain for news that touches us deeply: the Holy Father has returned to the Father’s House.
(ANS – Rome) – Pope Francis was a true shepherd who now left his flock to return to our master and Father - the place where we all belong. His departure from this world for eternity left a fertile void - a deep loss - a world in mourning and honouring the accomplishment of his pastoral mission on earth.
(ANS – Vatican City) – The world mourns for Pope Francis at his ‘transitus’, to use a word that is both rich in meaning and familiar to the Church and the Franciscan spiritual tradition to describe one’s passing. His death, no doubt, is the end of a remarkable era. He leaves behind a great legacy. Pope Francis has many firsts to his credit: the first Latin American Pope, the first Jesuit to become the successor of Peter, the first to assume the title of one of the world’s most loved saints, St Francis of Assisi, the first Pope to publish a candid autobiography.

Spain – Easter 2025, the Witness of Salesian Brotherhoods: “It Is the Lord Who Shows Us the Way”
(ANS – Valencia) – During Holy Week, countless sacred events take place across the world, especially in countries with deep Christian roots. These events, shaped by diverse traditions, aim to bring the faithful closer to the mystery of Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection. In Spain, many brotherhoods (confraternities) keep this popular form of spirituality alive. On this Holy Thursday, we hear from Inmaculada Pérez Pizarro, a Salesian Cooperator from Algeciras and, for about a year now, the coordinator of Salesian confraternities in the Salesian Province of Spain–Mary Help of Christians (SMX).

THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR, Fr Stefano Martoglio
To celebrate a General Chapter in one place or in some other place is not an indifferent matter. Certainly, being at Valdocco, in the "cradle of the charism", we have the opportunity to rediscover the beginnings of our history and rediscover the originality that constitutes the heart of our identity as consecrated persons and apostles to the young.
