(ANS – Gwangju) – On 26 April, the Salesian Family Spirituality Day was held at the Gwangju Youth Cultural Center, hosted by the FMA. The whole world is immersed in grief over the great loss of a prophet of our times and the greatest spiritual leader. On this day, as we join in heart with the funeral of Pope Francis taking place in Vatican City (5:00 PM Korean time), the Salesian Family in Korea is conducting the Family Spirituality Day in a restrained manner, without extravagance, as it is a long-planned and significant family event, while feeling the sorrow of sending their supreme superior (Constitution 125) back to God.
(ANS – Lima) – This year, with great enthusiasm, a new initiative for the formation of young people has been launched in the indigenous Achuar communities of Kuyuntsa, Checherta, and Yankuntich. The Salesian oratory, adapted to the Achuar style, has been warmly welcomed by the communities, especially by the youth.

Peru – Pope Francis’ Salesian roots
(ANS – Lima) – Pope Francis’ death which occurred yesterday, Monday 21 April, in Rome, invites us to look back on the Salesian roots of the man who, for the last twelve years, was the 266th Pontiff of the Catholic Church. Much of this information was recounted by Jorge Mario Bergoglio himself in letters written between 1986 and 1990 to Salesian historian Fr Cayetano Bruno (1912-2003), found in the Salesian Historical Archives in Buenos Aires by fellow Salesian and historian Fr Alejandro León and published in the book Francisco y Don Bosco (2014).

THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR, Fr Stefano Martoglio
To celebrate a General Chapter in one place or in some other place is not an indifferent matter. Certainly, being at Valdocco, in the "cradle of the charism", we have the opportunity to rediscover the beginnings of our history and rediscover the originality that constitutes the heart of our identity as consecrated persons and apostles to the young.
