The social work in favour of young people is carried out globally. It is enough to know the efforts of the Salesians among the most disadvantaged minors in South Sudan to have an example of their efforts. Many children and young people living in South Sudan are traumatized and need psychological support. "It is a question of raising these children who lie on the ground because of war and violence," says German Salesian Brother Lothar Wagner, coordinator for child protection in Southern Sudan, a country in which he has been working since the summer of 2018, serving street children and former child soldiers.
"Our projects demonstrate that we can obtain a lot more when we obtain their trust. Former child soldiers are traumatized by the experiences of violence they experienced. They need professional help, but above all people who treat them with respect and affection," adds Nelson Penedo, Director of" Don Bosco Mission" in Bonn.
"We want to offer assistance, support and education to all young people. The main purpose of our foundation is education, especially in vocational training. Because we know that what young people learn in their lives, no one can take it away from them, and it is with these tools that they can shape their lives. We are pleased to offer young people a chance in their countries, in collaboration with our development workers, benefactors and friends. It will be a precious treasure for the next 50 years, for the young people we are forming today," says Martin J. Wilde, Director of "Don Bosco Mondo".
Every year the "Don Bosco Mission" organizations in Bonn and "Don Bosco Mondo" jointly organize the "Don Bosco Forum", which aims to raise awareness of the interests and needs of young people all over the world.
