(ANS – Agua de Dios) – A School for people suffering from Hansen Disease (known also as leprosy) in Agua de Dios, Colombia, run by the Salesians. In the photo, which is dated 1950 and was presented at the “Charity Photographic Exhibition” organized in Turin on the occasion of the Holy Year, a priest is seen in the middle, with a group of musicians. In  1891 Fr. Michele Unia commenced his work at the service of the sick and the youth. The Salesians were in charge of the parish, which was attended by about 10.000 faithful and looked after 6.000 sick people. In the town of  Guaramayo they also ran a school for 450 healthy children, born to people suffering from Hansen Disease.
