The video opens with Don Bosco's words in the story of his first missionary dream, in 1872. Only three years later, the first group of missionaries left from Genoa in the direction of Argentina, starting a wonderful adventure that continues to this day and involves many Salesians, Salesian sisters, young people, lay people, members of the Salesian Family, families... From Don Bosco's recommendations to the first missionaries, we move on to the actualization of the Salesian charism, which has reached 137 countries around the world, also considering the forthcoming opening in Vanuatu.
GIVE THANKS: The response to the missionary vocation has in fact brought and continues to bring precious fruits for which we can give thanks. Fruits of missionary holiness and fruits of youth holiness in mission lands, new foundations and new Congregations founded by Salesian missionaries.
RETHINK: In the words of Fr Alfred Maravilla SDB, General Councillor for the Missions, ‘today a new missiological reflection is urgently needed in the Congregation. Today, the missions cannot be understood merely in geographical terms. We must also think of the missions in cultural, sociological terms and even in terms of our presence in the digital continent. ».
RELAUNCH: With creativity and courage, as Salesian Family we are called to say our personal and communitarian ‘yes’ before the new geographical and cultural frontiers that call us, trusting in God, in Don Bosco and in the many witnesses of the Salesian charism.
