Below is the message released by the Confederal Presidency of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco of Spain:
“From the National Confederation we want to start a campaign to palliate, as far as we can, such a devastating situation. We have opened a bank account, with an initial contribution of 5000 euros, one for each member of the Confederation, in which we can all show our solidarity and support for the Valencian people. To this end, a massive call for participation has been made, at the level of our associations and their local councils, our individual members, family members, friends and relatives… any collaboration is welcome, no matter how humble it may be, it will be useful and will be put to good use. No alumni should be excluded from this appeal for lack of information.
The total amount of the proceeds will go to the village of Algemesí located at the epicentre of the disaster, specifically to the Parish of Mary Help of Christians. We believe that it is most effective to focus on a single objective in order to be able to help more effectively. We have chosen this place because of its great significance for all of us. The parish priest has already informed us that the needs are many and varied and that they are in dire need of our help. Once again, Our Lady, through her invocation, comes to the aid of those most in need.
It is time for all of us to act together with a common purpose. Making ourselves visible in the hours of struggle against adversity, being useful and meaningful. In addition to material aid, I would ask you to pray in memory of the victims, their families and all those affected. From the Spanish Confederal Presidency we remain at your disposal for anything you may need. May Don Bosco reward you for your efforts and collaboration”.
