The Extraordinary Visitation opened on 17 February 2024 at 9.00 a.m. at Don Bosco Provincial House, New Delhi with an inaugural prayer service. The Word of God for the occasion reminded the participants about “Christ who is ever present” (2 Cor 13:5-10).
Fr Davis Maniparamben, Provincial, warmly welcomed the Visitor amid a large representative gathering of confreres of the region. With a sense of gratitude, he informed the Visitor that the Province of New Delhi which was erected in 1997 with 105 confreres is entering into the 27th year of its existence. As of now, there are 215 confreres working in 22 canonically erected communities and in 4 presences.
The Visitor in his address to the province outlined the principal tasks of the Extraordinary Visitation, namely cementing the relationship of the confreres and the province with the Rector Major and the Congregation and secondly verifying the life and mission of the province.
Speaking on the leadership styles the Visitor focused on the care of the individual confrere and the web of relationships that impact the quality of our life and mission. Moving further, he said that the leadership at all levels must enable the province to look into the potentials lying ahead in the future, while reading prophetically the signs of the times.
Yes! the time of grace has begun and the Province of New Delhi is truly placed on a journey of renewal with the commencement of the Extraordinary Visitation.
