Fr. Gildasio, is currently in India for a month long animation visit, to seven provinces of the South Asian Region, namely Guwahati, Shillong, Dimapur, Kolkota, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Currently he is on his visit in the Province of Kolkata from 13 to 17 August.
Fr. Gildasio was accompanied by Fr. Patrick Lepcha, the Youth Director of the Kolkata Province and Fr. Arvind Khalkho, the social communication delegate. After praying at the Tomb for some time he proceeded to the Altar beside the tomb to offer the Holy Eucharist..
In his homily he highlighted the virtue of Charity and how Mother Teresa was one of the greatest ambassadors of charity and peace. He also spoke of his fascination for Mother Teresa and how she remains as a powerful inspiration. After the mass he prayed specially for the sisters of Missionaries of Charity and their mission. After the Holy Eucharist, he made a short visit to the museum dedicated to Mother Teresa, and also the room where mother spent her last days.
Fr. Gildasio also met the New Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity, Sr. Mary Joseph. She is the fourth successor of Mother Teresa, who was elected the Superior General on 14 March. Fr. Gildasio spoke with great concerned bout the strength of the congregation and about sisters in India. “She was so humble,” was one the remarks of Fr. Gildasio, after meeting the Superior of one of the most well-known sister’s congregation in the world. She implored Fr. Gildasio to bless her and all the sisters and pray for them.
Fr. Gildasio also made a short visit to one of the centres of Mother Teresa named Prem Dan. The superior of the centre, Sr. John Vianney, introduced the centre to Fr. Gildasio and thanked him for the surprise visit. He also interacted with a few old aged people who were present there, and he greeted and wished them.
