"ANS News Video" is a new monthly news feature that reviews the most important events taking place within the Congregation and the Salesian Family and re-elaborates them in a TV-news-style format, to offer the main Salesian news not only to readers but also to viewers.
Conceived last year, the project went online at the end of February with the first edition of "ANS News Video", dedicated to the activities of the Salesian month par excellence, that of January, and the second edition, relating to the events of February, was published just yesterday.
It is published in the six most widely spoken languages in the Congregation and reports what the Sons and Daughters of Don Bosco are doing throughout the world for the education, development, and evangelization of young people.
“The purpose of ANS News Video is to get the word out about what is happening in Salesian Provinces and communities to all Salesians around the world, to our lay collaborators, to members of the Salesian Family, to our benefactors,” says Fr Harris Pakkam, the agency's Director.
“The first two editions already published,” continues the ANS Director, “represent pilot episodes for us: we have a project already defined and clear, but we want to take it forward together with our viewers. This is why we are eager to receive comments, proposals, and feedback and we are ready to innovate and renew it to make this product increasingly appealing and interesting for our audience.”
The General Councilor for Social Communication, Fr Gildasio Mendes, also expressed all his enthusiasm for this novelty: “ANS News Video is a project of the Communication Sector that intends to visually document the most significant events in the life of the Congregation. It offers a new way of promoting institutional communication at the provincial and world level, and it will also be very useful for organizing Salesian information and curating the historical memory of events, in the Provinces and for the whole Congregation. Without forgetting that it will also be used to broadcast Salesian news on television and online channels. I, therefore, take this opportunity to invite all the Delegates of Social Communication and to all the collaborators of the Sector to participate with enthusiasm in this new phase that is beginning, documenting with videos the major Salesian events in their Provinces and sharing them through this new feature.”
Finally, the General Councilor concludes: “ANS News Video represents a new field for the agency to explore. I hope that over time it will become a not-to-missed monthly appointment for anyone who loves Don Bosco and the Salesians.”
