Kenya - “Voluntary National Review” meeting in Nairobi
Nairobi, Kenya - March 2020 - On 3 March, Fr Thomas Pallithanam, SDB, representative of the Salesian Congregation at the United Nations, led a delegation of Salesians from the East Africa Province (AFE) for a talk with functionaries of the Council of Governors of Nairobi. Present at the meeting, for the Salesians: Fr TJ George, Executive Director of "Don Bosco Tech Africa"; Fr Fredrick Swai, Director of the Planning and Development Office (PDO) of the AFE Province; and the PDO Coordinator, Sam Ebale. The Salesian delegation was hosted by Ken Oluoch, technical manager of the Sustainable Development Goals at the Office of the Board of Governors, and Clemency Dora, expert in knowledge management at the Board of Governors. The group held talks on the topic of Voluntary National Review (VNR), exploring various ways through which the Salesians of the AFE Province can collaborate with civil society groups and the Government of Kenya. The VNR analyzes the progress made in achieving the SDGs for 2030 through the sharing of experiences, successes, challenges and teachings. At the end of the talks, Fr Anthony visited the offices of the "Don Bosco Tech" at the "Don Bosco Youth Educational Services" in Karen.
