23 October 2024

Ivato, Madagascar – October 2024 - The Formation meeting at the Conference of Provinces and Vice-Provinces of Africa-Madagascar (CIVAM) for the Africa-Madagascar Region took place from 19 to 21 October in Ivato, in Antananarivo. The meeting involved almost all the 15 Provinces and Vice-Provinces in the Region. The Coordinator of Formation for CIVAM, Fr Ela Enam André Young, stressed that the aim of this meeting is above all to evaluate the inner life of Salesians, both in the house of formation and in the active community, to grow in the Salesian identity; but also to reflect, taking into account the new challenges, and to look to the future by setting goals, making choices and entering into a new mentality which the Church and the Congregation are proposing. Brother Raymond Callo, from the Formation Sector at Salesian Headquarters in Rome, recalled that the only and great expectation of this meeting is to give  quality to the formation for all the Provinces and Vice-Provinces in Africa and Madagascar, so that they can in turn give quality to the service offered. In addition to reflection, the meeting was enriched by family time, sharing and prayer, and by a visit to the Cathedral and the Palace of Queen Manjakamiadana near Antananarivo.
