India – Salesians from Shillong pray for peace in Manipur
Shillong, India – July 2023 – Salesians from the Shillong Province, under the leadership of Fr Barnes Mawrie and Fr Michael Makri, organised a prayer concert for peace in the State of Manipur, which since 3 May has been experiencing episodes of violence resulting in wounded and displaced victims. Various church organisations, therefore, have prayed and begged for the restoration of peace. In this regard, the Salesians of Shillong also joined in the prayer, asking for peace in the State. The concert, held at the Father Sngi Memorial hall at the Sacred Heart Theological Institute in Mawali, was attended by the Salesian Provincial of Shillong, Fr Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, and the Hon. Charles Pynrope, deputy of Nongthymmai. The event, featuring music, songs, prayers and dances, brought together about a thousand participants and was broadcast live by Don Bosco Media Network on the YouTube channel, on the local cable network and via OTT.
