Paraguay – Celebrating 90 years of the Mary Help of Christians parish, Asunción
Asunción, Paraguay – June 2023 – The closing events for patronal festivities at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Asunción were celebrated on 28 May, with the traditional procession through the streets of the city, and Mass. The ceremony was presided over by the Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of the Paraguayan Chaco, Bishop Gabriel Narciso Escobar Ayala, SDB, in the presence, among others, of the Superior of the Salesian Province of Paraguay (PAR), Father Mario Villalba. On 4 June, moreover, the parish of Mary Help of Christians, Asunción, cradle of Marian devotion in Paraguay, celebrated the 90th anniversary of its establishment as a parish, canonically erected by Bishop Juan Sinforiano Bogarín in 1933. Currently, the parish and shrine of Mary Help of Christians is the second most visited Marian church in Paraguay.
