India - Award ceremony of Kahaani: Mumbai's Salesian Short Film Festival
Mumbai, India - February 2023 - The closing ceremony of Kahaani, the Salesian short film festival of Mumbai, was streamed live on February 11. The idea of a film festival was born in July 2022 during the meeting of the INB Provincial Social Communications Commission. With this initiative, the Commission wanted to give young people the opportunity to tell stories that would make a difference through the medium of short films. After preparatory meetings and workshops, 20 short films were submitted and 6 were selected for the final award ceremony. The closing event was also attended by Fr. Savio Silveira, Superior of the INB Province, who reminded the participants of the importance of cinema as a medium to convey messages creatively. This festival also opened their eyes to the difficulties involved in the filmmaking process. In the end, the short film "Snooze," presented by Ivan Dabhi, won the award for Best Film, while "Stop" and "Wheel of Time," presented by Aaron D'Sa and Akshay Hiwale, respectively, won second and third place. Four other award categories were then awarded: Screenplay, Photography, Editing, and Directing.
