Brazil - Salesian Province of Recife celebrates Mass of thanksgiving for St. Artemide Zatti's canonization
Recife, Brazil - October 2022 - In harmony with the entire Salesian Congregation rejoicing over the canonization of Salesian coadjutor Artemide Zatti, the Recife Provincial House (BRE) celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving for the gift of his holiness on Oct. 14. The Mass, which was presided over by Fr. João Carlos Ribeiro, BRE Provincial Vicar, was attended by most of the collaborators of the Provincial Center. Liturgical texts were used in the liturgy for the Memorial of the New Saint, which will be celebrated on November 13. In the collective prayer, God was asked that "through the intercession of St. Artemide Zatti, we may recognize and serve the face of Christ in our suffering brothers and sisters." The Mass, as has been the case every Thursday since the beginning of the pandemic, was also broadcast through the initiative of the "Amanhecer Missionary Association" (AMA) via radio and social media; and at the beginning of the celebration, in addition to briefly mentioning the biographical elements of the new saint, a two-minute video summarizing his life was also shown.
