DR Congo - Salesian home workers for street children participate in training session at "Don Bosco Ngangi"
Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo - August 2022 - Workers from Salesian homes for street children in Goma attended a special course focusing on the "street child phenomenon," which took place on August 18 and 19 at the "Don Bosco Ngangi" youth center. The session was organized by Fr. Jean-Pierre Muhima, SDB, Rector of the Salesian Community in Ngangi, under the guidance of Fr. Aimé Lulinda, SDB, a specialist in social pedagogy and researcher on the problems of street children. About 20 social workers and psychologists explored the principles of reception, accompaniment, reintegration, or reunification. Their skills were strengthened especially on the criteria, tools, and stages of reintegration or family reunification. Fr. Lulinda also shared his analysis of the reasons why children received in Salesian centers return to the streets.
