On the first day, after the Holy Mass and Morning Prayer, one-day recollection was organized in order to prepare ourselves in silent reflection and prayer. Fr. Fabio Attard, SDB was invited for a spiritual talk via Zoom Webinar. He encouraged us to draw a provincial plan which is clear, simple and practical; not to make our lives complicated any more, for the situation we are in now is already complicated.
On the second day, a special message from our beloved Rector Major Fr. Fernandez Atime, SDB, was viewed together. He invited us to put all our efforts on looking for ways and means to take care of the life of each one of the confreres, who are already Salesians of Don Bosco. Furthermore, he continued saying that rather than running fast looking for novelty, we should go slowly to consolidate all that we already have but with great sense of Charismatic Identity, which will make us feel really happy to be Salesians of Don Bosco. After that, Fr. Provincial, ZAYA AUNG Bosco, SDB, gave his opening talk.
On the third, the forth and the fifth days, we were able to sit down together to study and reflect on the working document (implementation of GC 28), and draw up a plan to put into practice. Moreover, we were able to review and renew our Provincial and Formation Directory as well. Our Provincial Chapter ends with the final remarks given by Fr. Provincial, saying “it is really encouraging to see the confreres sitting together to discuss and plan for the growth in Salesian Identity. The growth of the young in Myanmar also depends on each one of Salesians. If Salesians are good, the young will enjoy the good fruits of our Identity…” After the remarks, we all received the blessing of the provincial. The Chapter was more enriched with the presence and good night talks of the two Salesian bishops, i.e. Cardinal MAUNG BO Charles, SDB and Bishop DAU ZE Lucas, SDB.
All the Chapter members were active and enthusiastic in all sessions of intervention, discussion, and sharing. We all, with the spirit of Don Bosco, are eager and ready to strive together for the growth of the vice-province and the betterment of the young, especially those who are poorer and abandoned. We give thanks to God who is the Source of our life, Mama Mary who is our Guide and Don Bosco our model for having a successful Provincial Chapter.
