Uruguay - Year of Salesian novitiate opens in Southern Cone
Montevideo, Uruguay - February 2022 - On 3 February, with a Mass presided over by Fr Alfonso Bauer, Superior of the Salesian Province of Uruguay (URU), and concelebrated by Fr Carlo Lira, the Salesian Province of Chile Provincial (CIL), the formative year of the Salesian Novitiate of the Southern Cone has begun. This year's course will host nine novices from the Provinces: Northern Argentina (3), Southern Argentina (2), Paraguay (3), and Uruguay (1). They will be accompanied by Fr Daniel Costa of Uruguay, Novice Master, and by the formators Bro. Hugo Diaz, Salesian Brother, from Argentina, and Fr Leonardo Santibáñez, from Chile. Also present at the celebration, together with the novices, were those in charge of formation in the Provinces: Fr Osvaldo Valenzuela (CIL), Salesian Bro. Pablo Carrizo, Fr Federico Salse (ARN), Fr Emiliano Velasco (ARS), and Fr Sebastián Ferreyra (URU).
