Portugal - Salesian parish of Mogofores extends its aid
Mogofores, Portugal - March 2021 - The pandemic has impoverished several families in Mogofores and the surrounding area, people who no longer have their daily bread. This is why the local Salesian parish, through “Loja Social”, has begun to distribute hot meals on a daily basis. In compliance with health-safety standards, volunteers deliver meals to the most needy at home. The "Loja Social" is a social solidarity shop founded eight years ago by the then parish priest of Mogofores, Fr José Augusto Fernandes, with the help of some volunteers, and is based on the philosophy of love for others. This initiative helps many needy people, not only from the parish, but also from other locations, some of which are quite far away.
